Joel Whipple is a member of the Hasski Classic committee for no apparent reason. He is initially passed on the inaugural tournament in the fall of 2009, but joined as a late replacement. In 2010, Joel moved to the Bay area and joined the committee mainly to receive advanced notice of the tournament date and book a flight to the big dance.
Of his numerous golfing accomplishments, Joel is most known for his approach shot on the 18th hole of the 2013 Hasski Fall Classic. The team went on to miss the eagle putt, but Joel tapped in the birdie for the win. Joel attributes his avid TV habit for the shot, as he took more club based on color commentators noting players need more club as the sun starts to set.
Additionally, Joel is also known to visit the greater New England area to golf and not inform his family that he is playing across the street from their house.
He has two Hasski Championships and is typically considered to be most likely to be injured.
